Very few entities or people are going through these times in the same way as previous years. The Covid virus, which is wreaking havoc around the world only comparable to those produced by the great wars, forces us to change our habits with others, so this summer the navigations were different.
The precautions made impossible the collaborations that we did every summer, going sailing with users or students of [COGAMI] (http://www.cogami.gal/) and [ARELA] (https://www.arela.org/) ; Nor has it been possible to collaborate with the Rías Baixas Sport Fishing Association and the San Gregorio Nautical Group in organizing the children’s fishing contest in recent years, filling the pontoon with children.
It can be said that this summer we sailed when and how it was possible, with the appropriate security measures to, in this way, provide our boats with the seawater ration that is necessary to give them to be “alive”.
We hope that this nightmare that we are all living ends as soon as possible and thus return to normality.
For the first time, students from [ETRAD] (http://e-tradvigo.blogspot.com/) came to sail one afternoon with us. They were very happy to navigate traditional boats and with the pleasant feeling of sailing. For a few hours we live with people who try to preserve different faces of the culture of our country; them with our music and we with our boats.
As is happening every summer, students from ARELA went sailing with us. We had some very good afternoons to sail, so these guys enjoyed sailing in our estuary, getting to take main sheet and take the helm of the boats.

Like other years, some colleagues made a trip from Vigo to the Verdugo river. Three of our ships, Taiña, Chanquete and Trebello, passed under the Arcade and Pontesampaio bridges and sailed upriver. Aided by the tide, they reached the river beach of Comboa, in Soutomaior (Pontevedra). A fast and beautiful trip, helped by a strong south wind and a calm and pleasant ascent along this green and leafy river.
This last Saturday, the 10th, the IV Fishing Kids Contest with buoy developed by the San Gregorio Nautical Group, the Rías Baixas Sports Fishing Association and the Remadoira Traditional Boats Association took place in the dock of the San Gregorio Nautical Group.
The day was a success of attendance, in a contest that every year gains more followers. This year forty boys and girls enjoyed a beautiful fishing day.
Although the day dawned gray and it rained heavily in the early hours, it changed and the sun was shining the rest of the day, so the children had a very beautiful morning. In addition, we must add the power to be in contact with nature, reflecting, observing and interpreting the environment while socializing and developing virtues such as patience and perseverance.
It is a contest of fishing without death, where the impact on nature is minimal since the catches are returned to the sea after weighing them, causing them the least possible discomfort.
The children were accompanied by an adult, which was a great opportunity to live together, meet and create memories of a fishing day together.
In addition to five awards and access to the major piece in the two categories (kids and children), all participants received medals and a patience prize, for their delivery and perseverance in the practice of fishing. After participating in a raffle, we say goodbye even next year, date that both children and adults will meet again in such an endearing contest.
